A Million Voices at the International Market in Arendal
Every year the city of Arendal hosts an International Market – a place for you to wander in between numerous booths and get to know delicious foods and products from all parts of the world.
This year the International Market was held June 29-30. It was a rainy market this time, but fortunately the weather improved for the second day of the event. A Million Voices was this year, as previous years, present at the market – and volunteer Joseph Fey, organization leader Charlotte Johansen and communications coordinator/project advisor Tracey Gravador were all ready to tell about the organization’s work in Manila. In addition to that, local products from the Philippines were also sold in support of the projects in Manila.
The most popular products were jewelry (some of them hand-made by the parents of AMV’s scholars), funny bags for children, and Angry Birds erasers. We also provided an opportunity for booth visitors to sponsor emergency packages that will be distributed in times of need in Manila (in example when a natural disaster or fire has occurred). By leaving an e-mail address those who supported this cause will also receive photos of the persons/familes who receive the packages.
During the time at the booth, the AMV representatives also met countless of warm people who were interested in the organization and what it does for the scholars and their families in Manila.
We at A Million Voices highly appreciate each and every one of those who took the time to talk with us and who chose to support AMV by buying things from our booth. We especially appreciate all the children who bought something, and who became so happy, when we informed that – with their purchase – they contributed to support other children on the other side of the world.
All income will be spent on our programs and projects in the Philippines. Maraming salamat! We are already looking forward to next year’s International Market in Arendal, and hope to see you there!
