First Batch of Livelihood Participants Celebrate Their Graduation

On the 11th Saturday of a 3-month long livelihood training course in baking, the participating ladies received their diplomas and medals for outstanding performances. From January to March the participants have been attending Saturday classes in cookies baking and candy making, in addition to taking part in practice sessions every Wednesday.

On March 27th all the participants turned up at the office of AMV with their notes and feeling slightly nervous. It was their big day – their final exam test was the last thing standing between them and their well-earned diploma. The exam started with a 100 questions written exam and was followed by a 15-minute practical exam. During the practical exam each participant picked a random recipe from the course and had to find the correct utensils, ingredients and measurement of ingredients. It was no simple task, but the participants managed to impress!

After completing their exam, the grades were set by baking teacher Lorena Castro, and the awarding of diplomas and medals was initiated. The participants who received their recognition was: Angela Mansuelto, Lorna Ermina, Luzviminda Damil, Rosechell Medina, Stephanie Tayo, and Vanessa Carlos.

Despite the course itself having reached its end, the journey is not yet over for the participants. During the course they have been selling their finished products and returned the earnings in their own savings boxes. The saved earnings will now be used as the starting capital for each of the participants own small-scale businesses.
