How to Assist in Manila after Yolanda through DSWD
A Million Voices has today visited the NAIA Chapel of DSWD and spoken with some of the people working non-stop to get emergency goods to the typhoon affected areas. We went there to get an overview of how anyone located in the NCR can assist.
This is what you can do if you wish to be more hands on when helping out:
1) Donate in kind at warehouse C. Anything is accepted, from clothes to food and blankets.
2) Call their hotline at 851-8081 and sign up as a volunteer.
As a volunteer you will get a schedule, you decide yourself for how long, with repackaging of emergency goods. You do not have to be connected with any organization, everyone are welcome!
The warehouse is open from 8 am until midnight, and so there is even possibilities to assist after working hours. This weekend the volunteering response has been overwhelming, but Roy Calfoforo, DSWD focal person in charge of programs and partnerships with NGOs, is urging for more volunteers even during the upcoming weekdays.
A target of 200.000 packages has been set for shipments, and as of this afternoon almost 40.000 has been repacked.
For more information, you may contact A Million Voices or call directly to the hotline.
